We've looked at Original Humanity, and Historical Humanity. We saw in Original Humanity how our sexuality had the power to launch us toward God. With the entrance of sin and Historical Humanity, our sexuality is all messed up. Instead of launching us toward God, our sexuality tends to bring us pain or hurt other people.
I suggested in class that Jesus died and rose from the dead so that we could be forgiven of our sins, even sexual sins. However, I also suggested that Jesus did not come ONLY to forgive us of our sins, but to un-mess up what sin messed up in us. (It may help to remember my fantastic diagrams). He came to redeem us, and to untwist what has been twisted. Check out the video we watched in class:
Is it possible for Christ to make all things new? Even us? Even our broken, messed up sexuality? Think about class and ways that we talked about that redemption is possible TODAY, not just when we die, but TODAY. Jesus did not die and rise from the dead only for us to go to heaven all messed up. He came to untwist us, redeem us, make us new even now on earth!
